Blogpost ideas

There’s a narrow window from when a thought takes root, brimming with possibility, to its relegation to the Shame Realm — how did I get so excited about X, it’s not that interesting or novel! Or how pretentious, that sounds fancy, but what can we actually say of substance about Y? The iron glows when the muses so conspire, and it is in fact the best time to strike when it is fiery.

Then you have to go to bed, wake up for work, get matcha with your friends — and the notion, once radiating a future of potential flourishings, is now dead in the water. Do not fret dear reader! Yes, I agree that it’s a tragedy that our houseplant is now dying. But we can bring it back.

Be gentle. Do not, with fingers that may as well be emitting laser beams, inquisition the poor idea. Try to understand where it’s coming from. What inspired you? This is a tricky business. In writing, sometimes I’ll be gifted with some idea, but it’s fuzzy, and then I’m spinning my wheels. But there is often an idée beneath the original, or above it (layers of cake), or even right next to it (always traverse your graphs!). Do not just delete the idea from your brain cells the moment you’re unable to fathom what possibly could’ve given rise to it, or what it even is. Sit with it until you remember. Then you can at least mourn what could’ve been. And if it works out, you’ll have a brand new blogpost.
